TAXES: Millionaires Do Not Deserve Relief Published in Coeur d'Alene Press Yes, I am in favor of property tax relief, but it should be relief for a
targeted group only! Property tax relief should target only Idaho residential
property owners who qualify for the homeowners exemption. I see no reason to offer property tax relief to those who come to our
state, purchase vacation property at inflated prices, build mega houses, spend
relatively small amounts for sales taxable items during their brief stays and
who pay no Idaho income tax! In response to a recent letter to the editor, Sen. Goedde stated "...
the only constitutional method of creating differentiated property tax is
through exemption." That's exactly what Idaho taxpaying citizens need! It's
about time the one-party dominated Legislature created a special interest bill
for Idaho's citizens! "Bring it on!" If the M property tax relief bill as proposed by the majority party is
revisited and passed, the "out of stater" with the $2,000,000 vacation
home could save $6,000. That means you and I, average middle class Idahoans
would have to buy an extra $100,000 worth of taxable items to offset that break. I, for one, don't want that tax shift handed to me, nor should you. David Larsen
