Special Session A Mockery Published in Coeur d'Alene Press In The Press' Aug. 27 headline story "Senate debate leads to frustration of
Republicans not impressed with ploys from Democrats, who wanted their proposal
included in discussion." Sen. Mike Jorgenson, my District 3 representative said," I
think the whole thing was a premeditated mockery of the system." I can only
think that Sen. Jorgenson is talking about the special session called by the short timer, always the bridesmaid, never the bride, Gov. Jim Risch? The special session was indeed a mockery of the system. Only one day to
discuss and vote on a preconceived, predecided, only one topic, my way only TAX
SHIFT plan, and the Republicans will call it tax relief. Yes, that is a mockery of the system, maybe not even legal. Perhaps Sen.
Jorgenson is talking about HIS mockery of the system. Although not a precise measure, The Press and The Idaho Statesman had
polls that showed a vast majority in favor of the Democrat's plan, not the one
and only discussed Republican plan. Risch's posterior has Sen. Jorgenson's lipstick on it for his pre-planned
participation in the special session, which was a special session the governor
would only schedule if he had the support; a topic that made this year's regular
legislative session the third longest in history and a topic that was shot
down by the Republicans in regular session, but now needed brought up
for a special session for political fodder in an election year. Yes, Sen. Mike Jorgenson, you, Gov. Risch and the rest of your Republican
cronies were involved in a "premeditated mockery of the system." Brad Cederblom
