Otter Wasting Time Published in Idaho Statesman In a recent Associated Press article, it was mentioned that Rep. C.L.
"Butch" Otter felt that he was "wasting his time" in
reference to his term as U.S. Representative. I had a similar experience with
the Idaho politician. Chris Shandera, Boise

I am a member of the 116th Brigade Combat Team based in Boise. On a return
flight from Kuwait to Kirkuk, Iraq, my aircraft was tasked with bringing Sen.
Larry Craig, Rep. C.L. Otter and Veteran Affairs representatives to Iraq to
speak with the soldiers and their leaders. I felt that this was going to be a
great opportunity for me to share my service experiences with the men who
represent what I fight for.
Thirty minutes into the flight, Sen. Craig descended from the cockpit and made
his way through the cramped C-130 bay to speak with the soldiers from the
great state of Idaho. During this time, I expected to see Rep. Otter follow
suit and spend time with the soldiers from his home state. However, time
passed and the plane landed without such incidence. Rep. Otter didn't share so
much as a wave with the men and women serving our great country. Were we
"wasting his time?"
