Letters To The Editor
VOTING: Take Pride In Your Community Published in Coeur d'Alene Press To the 37,973 people that took the time and effort to cast a
ballot on Nov. 7, well done, but I am not saying I'm happy about the way the
election turned out in Kootenai County. Being an avid Democrat, I was somewhat
spanked. I did vote and somewhere down the road I'm afraid I'll be able to say I
told you, but that's another letter. What I am really writing about is the 57,000 people in the county that are
old enough to vote and did not. I have no idea if they would have changed the
outcome or not, but how can they stand to have so few of us make their decisions
for them. I know when I vote my candidate might not win, but by voting I am
telling the winner I will be keeping my eye on them. Those that do not bother to
vote have just told the politicians to rape and plunder at will o they don't
care. I really would like to know why people don't vote, but please don't give
me the bull about my vote doesn't count or it won't make a difference, we all
know which end of the cow that comes from. If you're in the city of Coeur d'Alene, don't smile. With a population of
about 35,000, only about 12,000 had an opinion to voice o or about 1/3 of the
citizens made an investment in the future by casting a ballot. Voting does not cost you any money, but it has cost the lives of millions
to give us this right o in the future, please don't waste it. MIKE TEAGUE
